Registration Closing January 28th for January ACRE Foundations Course

A new round of the ACRE Foundations Training Course is about to begin in January. Registration ends 12/28/22, register now to claim your spot!

This training is geared to employment specialists in their first or second year of working in the field. The content will provide foundation knowledge on Indiana-specific resources, opportunities, and information about the employment services model. Fundamental employment services content reviewed includes: Supported Employment, Customized Employment, Discovery, Job Development, Workplace Supports, Job-site Training, Assistive Technology, Long-term Support.

Training Logistics:

• A new cohort begins January 9th and will graduate with a National Certificate in Employment Services from the Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators (ACRE) by March 31

• Forty-hour course separated into 6 lessons across 12 weeks

• Each lesson will be available for two weeks, allowing flexibility for the time and pace at which material is reviewed.

• Cost: $56.25

Effective Communication with VR Counselors

 Friday, January 20th from 11:00 am-12:00 pm ET

To apply information from this session, participants will have the opportunity to practice what they learned and report on their progress at the follow-up webinar.

The Intersection of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder & Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities

People with intellectual/developmental disabilities experience obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) equal to or more than people without disabilities. The cycles that come along with OCD can significantly affect someone’s quality of life. In our January Lunch & Learn, we will explore how OCD and related disorders can affect people with intellectual/developmental disabilities. Some related disorders include body dysmorphic disorder and hoarding disorder.

Join us in January to learn about:

• What obsessions and compulsions are most common

• How OCD can affect individuals across the lifespan

• Similarities and differences between OCD and autism
